Coordinators

Lluís Brotons

Research scientist

PhD in Biological Sciences, senior CSIC researcher at CREAF since 2014, studying global change impacts on biodiversity using ecological modelling across agro-forestry systems; involved in IPBES since 2012.

Dani Villero Pi

Researcher

Conservation biologist at CREAF and CTFC with a strong background on spatial ecology, conservation planning and science-policy interfaces, my work is focused on understanding the spatio-temporal patterns of biodiversity.

Sergi Herrando

Researcher

I am the scientific director of the Catalan Ornithological Instute, President of the European Bird Census Council and Researcher at CREAF. I promote and coordinate large-scale and long-term bird monitoring projects.

Team members

Anna Costa Vilar

Technical staff

Ecologist specialized in the use of spatial data for biodiversity planning. Within RESFIRE, I use a Landscape Dynamic Model (MEDFIRE) to develop future landscape scenarios that can be linked to biodiversity changes.

David Marti

Technical staff

I am a computer scientist at CREAF and ICO, specialized in web development and map viewers for projects like the EuroBirdPortal and the European Breeding Bird Atlas.

David Muñoz Ferràndiz

Technical staff

I am a conservation biologist working as a technician in species distribution models and how to use models to assess conservation decisions, systematic conservation planning, remote sensing and climate data.

Elisenda Peris-Morente

Ph.D. candidate / Technical staff

I am an ecologist at the Catalan Ornithological Institute coordinating the Common Bird Monitoring Scheme. I study how bird species trends are influenced by habitat type and ongoing land-use change.

Ella Plumanns Pouton

Postdoctoral researcher

I am an ecologist with a focus on plants, fire, and biodiversity conservation. I work in the project wildE, where I research the restoration of ecological processes to protect biodiversity now and into the future.

Eva Serrano Davies

Postdoctoral researcher

My research includes individual and population ecology traits (life-history, animal behaviour, habitat selection and conservation) to explore how animals respond to environmental change. Currently working on the Biodiversa+ TABMON project.

Gabriel Miret Minard

Ph.D. candidate

I study how forest management shapes biodiversity, focusing on forest structure, human impacts, and spatial strategies to develop indicators that support healthy, diverse Mediterranean forest ecosystems.

Gloria Casabella Herrero

Technical staff

I am a conservation biologist, and I work as a technician for the Catalan Observatory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity coordinating the participation of Catalonia in the partnership Biodiversa+.

Guillem Pocull Bellés

Technical staff

I model continental-scale bird distributions and their dynamics within EBBA Live, using standardized monitoring data and citizen-science observations. Aiming to forecast future patterns under global-change scenarios.

Helena Ramirez Cervera

Technical staff

I am a conservation biologist, and I work as a technician for the Catalan Observatory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity coordinating different projects in the sphere of science-policy interface

Magda Pla

Ph.D. candidate / Technical staff

I develop spatial methods to map and quantify biodiversity drivers of change, supporting decision-making in conservation. I work on CANVICAT, RESFIRE, and projects from the Catalan Nature Heritage Observatory.

Marc Anton

Technical staff

I am a biologist specialized in ornithology. I coordinate bird monitoring at the Catalan Ornithological Institute and am involved in the Living Planet Index in Catalonia. I research bird distribution and population dynamics using data from monitoring schemes.

Marc Fusellas

Technical staff

I am ornithologist at the Catalan Ornithological Institute, coordinating bird monitoring schemes for raptors and seabirds and contributing to science-policy work. I aim to discover trends and estimate the populations size of specific bird species.

Marcel Montanyès

Postdoctoral researcher

I am an ecologist with a deep interest in biodiversity and the processes that shape it. I use species distribution models and data analysis tools to understand biodiversity drivers and patterns.

Maria Blasi Romero

Postdoctoral researcher

I am a landscape ecologist with a strong background in pollinators, interested in the Science-Policy interface for biodiversity. I work on the EU project BioAgora, co-leading the Monitoring Knowledge Expert Networks (KEN).

Maria Lumbierres

Postdoctoral researcher

I’m an environmental scientist working at the interface of conservation biology, global change, and policy. I use tools such as remote sensing and spatial modelling to understand biodiversity and ecosystem change.

Mireia Fuertes Clavero

Technical Staff

I am a conservation biologist and I work as a technician at the Natural Heritage and Biodiversity Observatory of Catalonia. I coordinate the European Directives at the Catalan level.

Oriol Solà Vila

Ph.D. candidate

I am a biologist with a focus on data analysis and statistical modelling. I work with long-term monitoring of bird species to develop and evaluate process-based models to understand species distribution changes and population dynamics.

Roxanne Leberger

Postdoctoral researcher

I am a conservation ecologist, with a growing interest for the interface between science and policy. I work in BioAgora project, where I assess the state of biodiversity knowledge that can help ratchet up the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.

Sara Fraixedas

Postdoctoral researcher

I am an ecologist developing biodiversity indicators to monitor conservation goals, focusing on species trends and future scenarios. I collaborate across disciplines and contribute to research and editorial work at ICO.

Tristan Bakx

Postdoctoral researcher

I am an ecologist studying the impacts of vegetation change on biodiversity. I am interested in land use, ecosystem structure, and conservation biology with spatial modelling tools such as GIS, SDMs, and remote sensing.

Matthias Brummer

Technician

I am a biologist, and I work as a technician halfway for the Catalan Observatory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity and CREAF on science-policy assessments
